The left in this country like to draw comparisons with their current president Barack Obama and our most celebrated president of all time Abraham Lincoln and the civil war he won. What we face today, is not the civil war and Barack Obama hasn’t solved anything. No one with any capacity to understand the magnitude and suffering during the civil war would make such a comparison. In a nation that was conceived in freedom, slavery was our original sin.  It was morally wrong to own another man; therefore the moral authority was on the side of the abolitionist movement.

The war we face is one of ideas. It is opposing the left’s ideas that the government should provide, and to achieve this sacrifices should be made..  This is the only nation in the world where anything is possible, Ronald Reagan’s shining city on a hill. The world is full of socialist countries. They’ve never had the success that the United States has had.  If we fall into socialism, no other free nation stands a chance.

Our government was originally created, to have limited authority by the US Constitution, and that their purpose was only related to political affairs. Our founding documents, and the principal that this nation was intended to live by, is that we were endowed with inalienable rights, which cannot be voted away, no matter how overwhelming the majority. The point being, what Barack Obama and the Democrat Congress are doing right now SHOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE.

The Republican Party finds itself with no moral authority. Just as one cannot claim to be against slavery while owning slaves, one cannot be against a larger government while participating in the massive increase in spending and government authority that took place under Republican congress from 2000-2006. The new movement, should it ever materialize, must be disciplined. It must have the moral authority to call for lower spending and reduced taxes, without the tarnish of hypocrisy.

There is an idea that paying over half of what you’ve made shouldn’t go to the government; that you should be able to keep what you’ve earned. There is an idea that America is a force for good in the world, and that in our strength the world is a better place. Most importantly, there is an idea of the American Dream; that you can come from nothing, and achieve anything.  People across all party lines believe in these ideas.
