NY Governor Paterson says holding Gitmo trials in NY is a mistake

He is certainly not the only person that thinks this whole civilian trial is a bad idea. There are reasons why terrorists are tried in military tribunals. First off, and most important, the defendant has a right to see all of the evidence that is being used against him. Much of this evidence is currently classified. We are supposed to give all this information up to protect the “rights” of these terrorists?

Second, there is a very real possibility that these people will be acquitted. There are so many lunatic judges, especially in New York, that would just let these people go. Also if you’ve ever been the Greenwich village in the city, you’d see that its not a stretch to think that those people wouldn’t have a problem letting a terrorist run free.

It is a sham. And you know the White House even thinks they are over-reaching because the Attorney General Eric Holder said he made the decision alone. That is to keep the heat off of the President should this turn bad. It is going badly, so good call on the insurance policy.
