Congressman Joe Wilson raises $750,000 in 48 hours.
Congress — By Atlas on September 12, 2009 at 9:36 amThe Congressman Joe Wilson that dared to speak out against Obama during his health care speech at the joint session of Congress has raised over $750,000. He has tapped into something that everybody is thinking about Obama and his health care plan.
Obama is out there saying that were going to take out $500 billion out of Medicare, and no ones benefits are going to go down. He is also saying that nationalizing 1/6th of the entire economy won’t add to the already spiraling defiicit. If you ask me, he had every right to shout out “you lie”, because he is lying.
Not only that, Obama was calling the congressman a liar in his speech for giving his views on health care reform. He had every right to respond. What was he supposed to do? Stand and applaud being called a liar? Thats certainly not what Obama did when it happened to him.
The congressman has already apologized to the White House, and they have accepted the apology. Dem leaders are calling for yet another apology, not beng able to let the matter go. I’m sure if he were to apologize again, he would then have to apologize yet another time, and another.
In the end we need more people like this Congressman. Maybe it was an inoppourtune time to yell such a thing, but it was certainly the right thing to say. We cannot be afraid to say what is really happening.
The good news is the public option is now gone.
